Woodland Burial Park

Rainford, Merseyside

A series of buildings including a reception building, Woodland Hall and maintenance barn to support woodland burials and wedding ceremonies. The design can be potentially replicated in other woodland burial sites across the country. We developed, with the design team, a series of carefully detailed timber buildings which open up into the landscape. The Woodland Hall has an elegant propped glulam timber roof structure which thrusts against a perimeter buttressed wall. The reception building has a similar smaller hall and is framed by a series of staggered detailed glulam portal frames. These highly sustainable buildings have been developed using traditional timber technology which can be efficiently and readily built by local contractors.
