Historic Dockyard Chatham, East London
Located within the Historic Dockyard Chatham, the conversion of a disused Grade II listed police section house and addition of a new state-of-the-art immersive arts studio facility with motion capture, volumetric and photogrammetry studios will create a new home at the University of Kent for The Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries to deliver their digital arts programme.
The alterations to the Police Section House need to respect the historic value of the building and its setting within the Chatham Historic Dockyard. Accessibility will be improved and the ground floor opened up to function as a café and meeting area.
The new immersive arts studio is a 15m x 15m open and flexible performance space. The buildings have been designed with net zero aspirations and the embodied carbon of the structure needs to be minimised.
