Bob and Tamar Manoukian Costume Centre
High House Production Park, Purfleet
The new Bob and Tamar Manoukian Costume Centre at the High House Production Park in Purfleet, Thurrock is part of a significant centre for the creative industries. Integral worked with the team to deliver this unique bespoke costume centre with workshops for the Royal Opera House (ROH). The building houses a store for over 20000 costumes in addition to the ROH special collection which is of national importance. The workshop is for South Essex College and the University of Arts, London, where students studying a costume degree can train closely with the ROH staff, gaining first-hand experience on live briefs for productions. The building has many different functions and each function required a different design response. The structure is steel framed with a solid timber floor and roof for carbon sequestration. The Centre is an exemplar of low energy design and BREEAM ‘Excellent’.
