Cirencester college combines traditional values with a forward looking and vibrant learning environment. The ‘Digital Building’ is based around flexibility, collaboration and technology – helping to create a unique industry relevant environment in which to learn. The project, as with many education projects, necessitated consideration of it being a live site. The programme was very tight and had to meet funding requirements. A collaborative team approach was taken to the design so that the building could meet the brief within budget. The design is timeless, with a simple material palette and careful consideration of proportions and landscape. To support these considerations our superstructure is steel with precast planks. Our 3D modelling helped to coordinate and reduce risk on site. A collaborative team approach to the design resulted in the building meeting the brief within budget.
