Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways celebrate £3.1m grant from NLHF

Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways receive £3.1m grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to restore the engineering heart of the railway.
We are thrilled that Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways have secured this funding to significantly restore and conserve the facilities at the Boston Lodge site.
It is a privilege to be part of the team working to preserve such an important heritage attraction steeped in local history. Home to the oldest railway engineering workshop in continuous operation, the improvements will provide better facilities and accommodation to enable the dedicated and passionate team of staff and volunteers to continue their valuable work for many years to come.
The proposed works, which involves construction of several new buildings as well as restoration of five others, will provide further training, employment and volunteering opportunities for the local community of Porthmadog, enhancing the value that the Boston Lodge site already delivers to the area and providing a high-quality visitor experience.
