Planning permission for Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) Arts Building
3 May 2017
Our Arts Building project for Canterbury Christ Church University has gained planning permission.
The building is designed to bring the Schools of Media, Art and Design and Music and Performing Arts onto the University’s main North Holmes Campus.
Key to planning was addressing the important heritage aspects of the site. An archaeological investigation has been undertaken on the site to identify the key features, including the precinct wall of St Augustine’s Abbey. Integral have worked closely with English Heritage and the archaeological consultants to minimise the impact of the building on the historic features. We have designed a piled solution with very shallow pile caps allowing the building to sit above the important archaeological features in the ground.
