St Peter’s Catholic Primary School

Gloucester

A new school, on the site of an existing school which provides teaching space, both formal and break out, for primary school aged children with a nursery located in a separate building. The environmental scheme focused on a naturally rich landscape for exploration and learning as well as running costs. Several different timber technologies were incorporated into the design including solid timber and traditional timber framing. Externally surface water attenuation was a key requirement in an area that has seen devastating floods downstream of the site and the attenuation was cleverly worked into the landscape in the form of ponds and swales offering the pupils a varying natural environment to explore.

“The new St Peter’s Catholic Primary School is a notable success and Integral were key to the delivery of a striking structural solution which is fundamental to the architectural concept.”
