A Step Back in Time
7 February 2017
Dawn and Sarah revisited the Alfred Gillett Trust archive project in Street, Somerset last week.
The archive contains 100,000 objects spanning six generations of the footwear Clarks family including photographs, business archives, shoes and related marketing material. Integral provided the structural advice for the refurbishment of the range of Grade II listed buildings which contain the reading room with research and enquiry facilities. Attached is the new passive archive we helped to design with Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios. This is gradually being filled with the collections. Each item is being photographed, the documentation improved and conservation requirements assessed. Many thanks to the staff at the Trust who showed us around and we were inspired by what has been achieved and wish them all the best with their on-going projects.
